Preparing Your Print Job for Email
To submit your files to Advanced Imaging Service electronically, please follow the directions below:
- Send your application file along with all linked graphics and fonts. If you are using QuarkXpress, please use the "Collect for Output" feature in the file menu. If you are using PageMaker, it is best to do a "Save As" and check the "All linked files" button in the save menu. Collect or Save your files to a NEW folder on your hard drive. By doing so, you will have collected only the files actually used in your documents and eliminate the sending of unused graphic files, etc. contained in your original folder.
- Copy all fonts. We prefer that you would use Postscript fonts because True Type fonts may produce undesirable results when outputting to hi-res RIP's. Be sure to include both the screen and printer font files for all Postscript fonts used in your documents. In the case of True Type fonts, there will only be one file for each typeface used. Avoid using style option buttons such as "bold" or "italic" in your software. If there is no actual bold or italic typeface installed on your computer for the font you are using, then it will not work when outputting to postscript Rips, even though it will "simulate" those styles when printing to your laser or non-postscript printer.
- Compress your files as small as possible by using a utility such as STUFFIT or WinZip. Stuff or Zip the folder you used to collect your files for output. You can follow one of the links below to get the application for your computer:
STUFFIT.com(Mac, Windows, or Linux)
WinZip(Windows)
- (Optional) Want to send your job as PDF? Download Advanced Imaging's Acrobat Distiller job options file (see link below) and place it in your Distiller "Settings" folder located in the Acrobat Distiller program folder on your hard drive. Once you have done that, select "ais_distiller" in the Job Options pull down menu in Distiller.
Before creating your PDF, make sure that all of the images in your layout are 300 dpi and that all images are spot or CMYK. Do not use RGB
